The Comparable Program maintains the same basic requirements of a Drug Free Safety Program and is required for companies to obtain available contracts. Employee and supervisor training is required only one time for each employee and supervisor which differs from the Advanced and Basic Level program requirements.
No Premium Discount – Comparable Program
Employers implementing a Comparable Program are not eligible for a premium discount. However, Ohio law requires that all companies that want to bid or work on projects need to have a drug-free program established no matter how many employees they have.
The requirements of the Comparable Program:
- A written substance abuse policy
- Employee education
- Supervisor training
- Drug & Alcohol Testing
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Annual Progress Report
Other Notes
Although RANDOM testing is not a requirement of the COMPARABLE Program, the company has the right to implement random testing for the entire workforce. All other types of drug & alcohol testing are a requirement of the COMPARABLE Program.
